Brace+Bit Artworks represents a local Davis artist who creates unique pieces of art out of wood, metal, paint and other mixed media. The artist wanted a logo that represented her artwork without using wood or a brace bit tool. Logo inspiration came from a combination of one of the artist’s Fireworks wall art pieces and a reoccurring “flower” drawing that has been part of the artist’s portfolio since childhood. Similar to her art process, the final design shows pieces coming together to create a unique symbol, it can be interpreted as a sun, flower, even a firework, elements commonly represented in her art pieces. The individual shapes themselves are not perfect, capturing the essence of her handmade artwork. In contrast, a clean san serif font designed by a German designer was used to represent her German heritage, something that made the logo extra special to the artist.

Bender Rosenthal, Inc. is a California company that provides experienced right of way and real estate appraisal services. The company wanted a simple, bold logo with eye-catching collateral to help them stand out from their competitors. I accomplished this by adding dynamic diagonal shapes and engaging color throughout their brand, designing clear hierarchy in content so the volume of information can be easily consumed. To represent the people behind the brand, I added large quotes and staff photos, elements typically not seen in text driven competitive proposals. Even the “R” in their logo was intentionally selected to bring a little personality to their bold wordmark. The rebranding and new collateral design resulted in a significant increase in BRI’s win rates—up to 50% in some markets, and a minimum of a 30% increase across the board.

Pierroz Real Estate Group is a successful, woman-owned real estate group that wanted a bold, memorable logo that makes them shine against their competition. It had to stand out on street signage and work in smaller formats such as Facebook. In addition, the color was very important, it had to be modern, distinct and something the client would fall in love with.
